2005/12/14 Adventure Seed IdeasMartin over at Treasure Table has a really great post about keeping game adventure and sessions seeds in your subconcious, so that you can come up with fresh, new stuff. I do that a lot - thinking about hooks and adventures and NPCs, while I'm driving, showering, or just vegging in front of the TV.
I think books, TV, and movies are great fodder for this. I've created some great NPCs or adventures based on all sorts of things. Obviously, fantasy books and movies are great for gleaning some ideas from. But, even modern day shows have themes that can be used in a fantasy setting.
One thing Martin discusses is having writing material handy for when inspiration strikes. That's one thing that I have to do a better job of. I don't keep paper and pen near me, so some times I lose some really interesting seed ideas, or just remember pieces of them. 'The End' Wants BillGCheck out this post about a promotion that the local Seattle radio station 107.7 The End is doing. They're trying to get Bill Gates on their morning show for an interview and a music challenge. Sounds like fun. I would like to see him to it - would be interesting to see what songs he would pick. 2005/12/2 d20 Fuzzy DiceHere's another cool Christmas present idea. A stocking stuff for your favorite DM - the d20 fuzzy dice. 2005/12/1 Inside It's So Delightful...The weather outside is frightful. Well, not really frightful, but it's snowing in the Seattle area. That's usually bad news for traffic in this area because a surprisingly few number of people here know how to drive in the snow. So, rush hour should be fun this evening...
On the bright side, I'm working from home this afternoon. The house is warm. I can watch the snow from my office window. And, I won't need to drive in it this rush hour.
So, there's only one thing left to say: let it snow, let it snow, let it snow! |
